Abstract:The impedance for a monopole antenna in a warm plasma is derived and compared with the cases for wire dipole and double-sphere antennas. This derivation produces a new expression for the monopole antenna response function, F m1 (x), which is very similar to the double-sphere antenna response function. The monopole, wire dipole, and double-sphere response functions are compared by modeling an antenna in Earth's ionospheric plasma (i.e., electrostatic and collisionless) and predicting the antenna capacitance and… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
