Imperfect Duties

Abstract: Although the distinction between perfect and imperfect duties predates Immanuel Kant, it received its most sustained and (currently) most influential development from Kant. This entry explain how a division of duties into perfect and imperfect calls into question common assumptions about duties and about the function of the concept of duty in moral theory and in a morally well‐lived life.
