Implementation of Automatic Gas Accident Prevention System using Arduino and GSM

Abstract: Gas leakage is a major problem with industrial sector, residential premises and gas powered vehicles like CNG (compressed natural gas) buses, cars etc and this Problem has been the sole reason for many accidents in the past. One of the preventive methods to stop accident associated with the gas leakage is to install gas leakage detection kit at vulnerable places. The aim of this paper is to design and implement automatic gas accident prevention system that can automatically detect and stop gas leakage in vulne… Show more

“…A microcontroller is basically a single-chip device at a low cost [13], [14]. The word "single-chip" refers to a computer device that is housed inside a sliver of silicon encapsulated within the plastic housing of an integrated circuit [15].…”

“…The gas detector warning device is configured to ensure that a gas incident is intelligently observed, quickly alerted, and interactively controlled [24], according to the theory of operation suggested in this article. It is based on a timer that takes feedback from the MQ-9 gas sensor and triggers a buzzer and a series of leds that sound an alarm in the event of gas [13], [25]. According to the datasheet, the MQ9 sensor specializes in gas detector equipment for carbon monoxide and CH4, liquid petroleum gas (LPG) family, and every other related industry or vehicle assemblage [26].…”

“…The use of monitoring systems is common, however, with the advancement of communication technologies and protocols, these systems have gained more interaction and stability [8]. There are several papers that address the concept of the Internet of Things and data acquisition, such as the article described by Dornelas that proposes the monitoring of domestic water consumption using concepts of Internet of things [9].…”

“…In a death-defying gas intelligent sensor system [6], MQ-2 and MQ-7 were used for sensing flammable gases and carbon monoxide respectively but the load resistance value of 1 kΩ which is outside the range (5 kΩ -47 kΩ) recommended in the sensor datasheet was used for both sensors. In the microcontroller-based liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) leakage monitoring and control systems proposed by [23]- [30], the leakage gas was sensed in these systems using MQ-2 [23], [27], MQ-6 [24], [25], [28], [29], MQ-5 [26], and MQ-4 [30] gas sensors. The load resistance value was arbitrarily selected for these systems.…”
