Implementation of fault detection and prediction capabilities in a multilevel current source inverter

Abstract: This paper presents real-time implementation of fault detection and prediction methods, based on signals generated from multilevel current source inverters. These inverters are located within the instrumentation & control (I&C) structure of complex dynamical (e.g., energy and aerospace) systems. The task of implementation adopts the fieldprogrammable gate array (FPGA) technology with due consideration to optimization of cost, size and weight of the associated I&C unit.
