“…The project-based learning (PBL) approach became popular in the 90s across several academic fields; nonetheless, the concept of learning through experience emerged earlier with John Dewey's notions and arguments and started to be adopted across medical and engineering colleges in the 70 s (Dochy et al, 2003). Dewey's views and arguments are not restricted to the "learning by experience" component of PBL in graduate courses, but they underpin the process of reflection required from postgraduate students on their progress and completed projects as an inevitable learning outcome (Ab Wahid et al, 2020). The need for reflection is heavily informed by Dewey's famous argument (as cited by Schmidt, 2010) that students do not only learn from experimenting but also from reflecting on their experience, where reflection supports students in internalizing the knowledge and skills they have acquired and think about how they can transfer such knowledge and skills to other settings beyond the assigned project.…”

Furthermore, this awareness must be instilled from the start of each child's education so that this behavioural change and adaptation toward sustainability is continuously practised as they progress up the value chain in the education stream (Kinjawan et al, 2020).…”
