Imprint cytology of intranodal palisaded myofibroblastoma

Abstract: New methods for labeling red blood cells (RBC) and monitoring their survival have made it possible to explore changes in the properties of RBC as they age in the circulation. We have adapted a method, originally developed for studying wild animals, to calculate the age of a random sample of labeled RBC from their survival curve. We also show how this method can be expanded to allow continuous calculation of the mean age of the labeled RBC population at any time after labeling. It is expected that this analytic… Show more

“…IPM shows both myofibroblastic and smooth muscle differentiation with the formation of the "amianthoid fibres". To date only about 55 cases of IPM have been reported in the English literature [4-6]. In this case report we presented another case of IPM, but originating from retroperitoneum.…”

“…4 The cytological data are limited, given that there have been only six reported cases of IPM from fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) and imprinting findings. [5][6][7][8][9][10] IPM is made up of cell groups and single spindle cells without atypia, metachromatic fibrillary stroma, and hemosiderin pigment. 10 IPM may present diagnostic challenges to FNAC but its unique morphological and immunohistochemical features allow us to differentiate it from other spindle cell tumors.…”
