FIGURE 4: ELift simulation example. Conditions at the pump inlet are compared to conditions at the same elevation in the first stage: the pressure increases to 1,607 kPaa from 706 kPaa, the temperature falls to 116˚ C from 165˚ C, and the subcool improves to 85˚ C compared to steam present in the first stage. Peace River SAGD pilot, and the UTF pilot. He played a major role in the gas over bitumen hearings. He has patented a number of inventions, including the SAGD artificial lift system, ELift. Previously, he worked as research supervisor at Petro-Canada, then as principal reservoir engineer at AOSTRA (Alberta Oil Sands Technology and Research Authority) where he had the opportunity to work on many thermal pilots and research projects. He has a Ph.D. and is a member of APEGGA.
