Improved hydration resistance of CaO granules via sol‐processed metal oxide protective layers

Abstract: Well‐sintered CaO granules with hydration resistance are very important for the manufacturing and application of CaO‐containing refractories. CaO granules with sol‐processed metal oxide protective layers were prepared by granulation and surface treatment. The obtained results indicated that the usage of nano sol greatly improved the hydration resistance of CaO granules, especially when the CaO granules were treated by alumina sol. The promoting effect of nano sols in the sintering processes improved the densit… Show more

“…Owing to their low specific gravity, high specific strength, large hydrogen storage capacity, low damping, good biocompatibility, and shape memory, titanium alloys have been widely employed in energy storage, sensing, aerospace, and healthcare industries. [1][2][3][4][5] Among the various titanium alloys, TiAl alloys possess low density and high specific strength, specific stiffness, and resistance to high-temperature creep and oxidation. They are the preferred materials for ultra-high-speed aircraft and the next generation of advanced aircraft engines.…”

“…Among typical HTCs (BaZrO 3 , Y 2 O 3 , ZrO 2 , Al 2 O 3 , CaO, and MgO), CaO tends to absorb water in practice and MgO tends to be unstable during the casting process of TiAl alloys. Moreover, the absence of appropriate force fields for the two HTCs limits the simulation of contact angles between CaO, MgO, and TiAl alloys. Herein, BaZrO 3 , Y 2 O 3 , ZrO 2 , and Al 2 O 3 were chosen for simulating the contact angles with TiAl alloys in this work.…”
