Uniformity of coating thickness in the electroplating process of cylindrical objects using plate-shaped anodes has become a challenging issue. One electroplating method uses a cylindrical anode. However, this strategy is too expensive and requires a lot of material. This paper determines the effect of brass plate anode formation on the headrest thickness uniformity of the electroplating brass coating on the headrest connector of electric wheelchairs made of St. 37. The research started by making headrest connector using a turning machine, then plating the brass using the electroplating method, and then testing the thickness of the resulting brass for uniformity of data using statistics. The number and placement of the plate anodes varied with 2 symmetrical position anodes, 3 symmetrically spaced anodes, and 4 symmetrically positioned anodes. Coating thickness was measured using a digital microscope with a magnification of 200 times. Before measuring the thickness of the coating, the surface of the joint is milled first to remove any chamfer on the top surface of the body and the cover headrest connector. The surface is smoothed using sandpaper and cleaned using etching. Data from the uniformity test results show the highest level of uniformity in the variation of 4 anodes on the body and the cover of the headrest connector, followed by variations on the 3 anodes on the body and the cover of the headrest connector, and variations of 2 anodes on the body and the cover of the headrest connector. The greater the number of anodes and their placement around the cathode, the higher the thickness uniformity of the resulting brass electroplating layer. Corrugated metal gaskets (CMG) made from SUS304 have previously been developed, however a coating process with a softer material is necessary for its design to be optimal. The coating process is time consuming and expensive. This research aims to develop CMG from aluminum by simulation analysis and form a CMG design made of aluminum A1100. The method used is development research. The optimum CMG thickness is analyzed using ANSYS Finite Element Analysis (FEA). The control variables being investigated are contact area and contact stress. The independent variable being investigated is the material thickness of CMG. An aluminum gasket is then constructed using a cold-forming process based on the optimum design. The control variables in the leak test are axial force and water pressure. Experiments were also carried out to test the aluminum gasket for leakage. A leakage test is carried out using a water pressure test. Simulation analysis showed results that were in line with experimental leak tests. FEA simulation results show that the optimum gasket thickness is between 3 and 5 mm, with 5 mm being the most optimal. However, CMG with thicknesses of 4 and 5 have similar contact stress and contact area. Leakage test results also show similarities with simulation results. CMG with a thickness of 5 mm has the best performance. The experimental results show that CMG made from aluminum A1100 is suitable for use as a gasket to prevent leakage, it prevents leakage at fluid pressure up to 12 MPa and axial force 100 kN. The results show that aluminum CMG performs on par with SUS304 CMG coated with nickel or copper. This research succeeded in developing CMG made of aluminum

Gaskets are components that play a very important role in piping connections to prevent leakage. Several factors affect the performance of the gasket, one of which is the contact surface of the flange. The quality of the contact surfaces in the connection also influences the leakage rate of each connection, therefore the gasket sealing performance is assessed by the rate of leakage that occurs. As a result, the surface roughness of the flange has an effect on sealing. This study examines the capability of a three-layer corrugated metal gasket to prevent leakage when the outside layer thickness and flange roughness are adjusted. The feature of three-layer corrugated metal gasket was elucidated using the finite element analysis (FEA) and experimental method. The leak rate was tested using a helium leak quantity test experimentally. The gasket was constructed with oxygen-free copper (C1020) as the outside layer and SUS304 as the base layer, and it was structured in a three-layer pattern with no bonding. A mold press was used to make the gasket. The simulation method applies finite element analysis software to investigate the correlation between contact stress, contact width, surface thickness and surface roughness. The projected results matched the experiment results fairly well. A three-layer corrugated metal gasket shows improvement capability to prevent leakage than a single gasket (standard). The gasket three-layer shows sealing performance improvement that leakage did not occur in low axial force 40 kN for all surface roughness test. In terms of sealing, a three-layer gasket with a low thickness ratio works well. Surface roughness of the flange has no influence on the three-layer gasket
