Improved structural and catalytic attributes of Ba2Co2Fe12−2x(Zr,Ni)xO22 materials synthesized by sol–gel and microwave heating methods

Abstract: Nominal composition of Zr-Ni co-doped Ba 2 Co 2 Fe 12À2x (Zr,Ni) x O 22 (x ¼ 0.2-1.0) Y-type hexaferrites were synthesized by conventional sol-gel and microwave heating methods. Structural analysis was carried out by TGA, SEM, XRD, O 2 -TPD and BET surface area. Microwave synthesized samples revealed good morphological properties with high surface area and high porosity compared to that obtained by the sol-gel method. Catalytic decomposition of N 2 O was achieved at low temperatures of 600 C and 700 C for micr… Show more

“…Keeping this in view, we reported the catalytic properties of closely related compounds of the same class in the recent past for N 2 O decomposition reaction. 15,16 N 2 O is considered as one of the environmental hazards because of its greenhouse effect on the environment, but more importantly it is used as a fuel for aerospace. N 2 O is a promising green propellant and it is preferred over conventional hydrazine because of its ability to self-pressurize and compatibility with common construction materials.…”
