Blomqvist et al (2000) also stated in their finding that reduction mammaplasty resulted in significantly improved quality of life [27].…”

“…Also, the mean age of the patients of this study was greater than in the original questionnaire study, and it has been reported that older patients with mammary hypertrophy complain primarily of pain, whereas younger patients are concerned mainly with physical appearance. 9,37 Another difference from the original questionnaire is that a floor effect was not seen and the ceiling effect was limited to pain and poor self-concept subscales in a tolerable amount. This may have resulted from the fact that all patients were given verbal reinforcement about the details of the scale before the application of the questionnaire.…”

“…2-8 However, health insurance companies are reluctant to provide financial coverage for mammary reduction surgery and have become apt to require new, more restrictive conditions to be met in order for a patient to be eligible for the surgery; in Turkey, mammary reduction is most often considered a cosmetic operation and represents a growing financial burden for these patients. [9][10][11] Patient-reported outcome (PRO) measures is a term that applies specifically to a questionnaire used in a clinical or research setting where responses are collected directly from patients. A good PRO measure can capture the impact of disease, trauma, or health care intervention on various aspects of a patient's life.…”
