Improvements in iridium target chemistry

Abstract: We developed and optimized the dissolution and separation chemistry of iridium (Ir) from irradiated Ir pellets and prepared Ir counting samples for analysis by a silicon drift detector. Previous Ir chemistry techniques used on the irradiated Ir pellets are tedious, lengthy, and require extra safety precautions and planning due to the use of perchloric acid in the dissolution step.
