Improvements to the Froissart bound from AdS/CFT

Abstract: In this paper we consider the issue of the Froissart bound on the high energy behaviour of total cross sections. This bound, originally derived using principles of analyticity of scattering amplitudes, is seen to be satisfied by all the available experimental data on total hadronic cross sections. At strong coupling, gauge/gravity duality has been used to provide some insights into this behaviour. In this work, we find the subleading terms to the so-derived Froissart bound from AdS/CFT. ..

“…[14] another subleading term of order O(ln s), i.e., Q ab ln(s/s ab 0 ), was also found (and such a term is also present in the analysis of Ref. [23]). Contrary to the leading and subleading terms discussed above, the coefficient Q ab is expected to depend on the colliding particles, even if our assumption on κ is met.…”

“…In this work we have performed a phenomenological analysis of total cross section data from hadronic scattering in order to estimate the relevance of a subleading ln(s/s 0 ) ln ln(s/s 0 ) term, obtained in recent theoretical studies in nonperturbative QCD [14] (see also Refs. [21][22][23] for a similar subleading term). More precisely, we used the following parametrization of the total cross section in the high-energy region:…”
