As the COVID-19 pandemic subsides, universities face challenges such as diminished student physical fitness and a decreased interest in physical education courses. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the tactical games model (TGM) in enhancing university students’ motivation in basketball courses, using a comparison control group taught using the direct instruction model (DIM). Additionally, this research delves into the motivational dynamics explained by self-determination theory, aiming to identify key factors influencing student engagement and participation. A total of 141 sophomore university students were analyzed and divided into an experimental group (68 students) and a control group (73 students). The participants engaged in an 8-week teaching intervention program. To assess motivation, the Sport Motivation Scale-II (SMS-II) was administered both before the start and one week after the conclusion of the intervention. Differences in motivation and subscale scores between the TGM and DIM groups were evaluated using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and analysis of covariance (ANCOVA). The results of the study demonstrated that the TGM significantly enhanced university students’ motivation (SDI: F = 6.949; p = 0.009; η² = 0.049). Furthermore, TGM enhanced scores on intrinsic and extrinsic motivation sub-scales more effectively than the DIM. These findings advocate for the adoption of TGM by university instructors as a potent tool to elevate student motivation, emphasizing the importance of focusing on both intrinsic and extrinsic motivational elements within physical education programs.

En la actualidad, se necesitan de modelos pedagógicos actuales e innovadores para la enseñanza de los deportes de invasión que sigan la corriente constructivista del actual marco educativo en vigor. A pesar de la existencia de evidencias científicas que avalan el uso de los modelos que se centran en la comprensión del juego (por ejemplo, el Tactical Games Approach), existen reticencias y dificultades de los docentes de Educación Física para la aplicación de estos modelos. Asimismo, bajo nuestro conocimiento, en la literatura son escasos los programas de enseñanza diseñados y validados por expertos en el campo de la Pedagogía del Deporte. Por ello, este estudio de divulgación, desde una perspectiva teórico-práctica, persigue dar a conocer las características y la potencialidad del modelo Tactical Games Approach dentro del sistema educativo para el desarrollo integral de los estudiantes. En este sentido, se proponen 29 tareas de aprendizaje del fútbol para incorporarse en situaciones de aprendizaje, planteando para cada una de ellas diferentes problemas tácticos, movimientos sin balón y habilidades sobre el balón. Las tareas de aprendizaje del fútbol propuestas se encuentran destinadas a estudiantes de quinto y sexto nivel de Educación Primaria, y estudiantes de Educación Secundaria (contexto escolar y extraescolar). Éstas fueron diseñadas con ayuda del Sistema Integral para el Análisis de las Tareas de Entrenamiento. Se observa un predominio de los juegos modificados y/o reducidos de desigualdad que trabajan contenidos de ataque y con valores elevados de intensidad externa subjetiva. Palabras claves: Deporte de invasión, modelo pedagógico, situación de aprendizaje. Abstract. Nowadays, current and innovative pedagogical models are needed for the teaching of invasion sports that follow the constructivist framework of the current educational law. Despite the existence of scientific evidence that supports the use of models that focus on understanding the game (for instance, the Tactical Games Approach), there are reluctance and difficulties of physical education teachers for the use of these models. To our knowledge, in the literature there are cases of teaching programs designed and validated by experts in the field of sport pedagogy. For this reason, this dissemination research, from a theoretical-practical perspective, seeks to summarize the characteristics and potential use of the Tactical Games Approach model within the educational system for the integral development of students. In this sense, 29 soccer learning tasks are proposed to be incorporated into learning situations, posing for each of them different tactical problems, movements without the ball and skills on the ball. The proposed soccer learning tasks are intended for students in the fifth and sixth level of Primary Education, and students of Secondary Education (school and extracurricular context). These were designed with the help of the Integral Analysis System of Training Tasks. We observed a predominance of modified and/or reduced inequality games that work attack content and with high values of subjective external intensity.
