State of the art cloud environments lack a model allowing the cloud provider to leverage heterogeneous resources to most efficiently service workloads. In this paper, we argue that it is mandatory to enable cloud providers to leverage heterogeneous resources, especially accelerators, to optimize the workloads that are hosted in accordance with the business model. For that we propose a hybrid provisioning model that builds on top of and integrates into state of the art model-driven provisioning approaches. We explain how this model can be used henceforth to handle the combinatoric explosion of accelerators, fabrics, and libraries and discuss how example workloads benefit from the exploitation of our model.
