The incidence of work-related musculoskeletal disorders remains high and, as these injuries have a high cost for companies and society, it is important to prevent them through ergonomic analysis and workplace design. During the work process, we are always looking to reduce lost time and improve the quality of work. From an ergonomic point of view, it is important to determine what workloads employees are exposed to and to eliminate or at least minimise them by redesigning the workplace. The aim of our research was to minimise the risk at work through the scientific design of workplaces based on a methodological approach. The manual and computerised OWAS method was used to determine and estimate body postures during the workday. It was found that certain postures resulted in significant overexertion, which meant that certain remedial actions were necessary during the work process to prevent possible damage to the body. Several improvements were proposed for the new workplace design: appropriate equipment for workers, lifting table, rotation of workers, construction of quality control facilities and automation of macro tasks.

The number of work-related musculoskeletal disorders has been increasing in most industries and occupations. Since these injuries impose high costs on employers and society it is important to prevent it through ergonomic assessment and job redesign. The paper presents a research of the workplace ophthalmic nurse regarding strain and stress. In the workplace the Intravenous Fluorescein angiography or fluorescent angiography is made which is a technique for examining the circulation of the retina and choroids using a fluorescent dye and specialized camera. The working procedure is complex and since nurses must assist in several forced positions for longer time ergonomic analyses were made aimed to determine strain and stress at workplace. For assessment of body postures OWAS analysis was performed manually and using computer simulation. The results obtained using computer simulations are comparable to manually performed research for most body positions except for bent and twisted back. Body postures of upper limb, lower limb and neck were exposed as harmful for nurse during working procedure and according to OWAS changes are needed in near future.

An interdisciplinary approach can improve both functional and aesthetic design skills for undergraduate engineering students. In this paper, we designed and compared two flipped engineering classrooms, one involving only engineering students who worked on individual design tasks, and the other including groups of an engineering student and an art major student that performed design tasks collaboratively. Fifty‐one engineering students, 29 from the individual flipped classroom and 22 from the interdisciplinary flipped classroom participated in the study. During the semester, all students studied pre‐recorded video lectures and homework before the class and then participated in weekly engineering design activities either individually or in a group. Students’ motivational experiences and engineering design achievement were assessed at the end of the semester. The results showed that students’ preferences in employing motivational regulation between the two flipped classrooms were different. Also, the students participated in the interdisciplinary flipped classroom exhibited higher aesthetic design achievement.
