Improving the Ambient Temperature Control Performance in Smart Homes and Buildings

Abstract: Currently, it is becoming increasingly common to find numerous electronic devices installed in office and residential spaces as part of building automation solutions. These devices provide a rich set of data related to the inside and outside environment, such as indoor and outdoor temperature, humidity, and solar radiation. However, commercial of-the-shelf climatic control systems continue to rely on simple controllers like proportional-integral-derivative or even on-off, which do not take into account such va… Show more

“…For example, there is known work which describes development process undertaken in order to create smart home automation system that was capable controlling indoor temperature using Internet Protocol Network communication technologies between user's mobile device and server located at remote location within same network infrastructure. Results showed that when implemented correctly it could provide reliable accurate performance over long periods time (Fontes F. et al, 2021).…”

“…This goal cannot be met without the use of technology. The cloud-driven method makes data collection easy when a considerable amount of data is collected from sensors or other devices Quality of service requirements wants extensive data integration with intelligent networks [28] Data Models Reusable data models are created for smart cities to use data again over various applications Static data is collected and used repeatedly that lacks dynamicity in real-time applications Application Requirements [29] Smart Home It is the heart of smart city operation as smartness comes from smaller but maximum modules. Motion sensors, ambient sensors, power monitors are required for smart homes [30] Smart Healthcare ICT is required for smart health.…”

“…In [14], the application of a PID controller for ACS using solar radiation is considered. In [15], it is proposed to use the smart home and building (SHaB) control system which takes into account the incident solar radiation which provides reduction in energy consumption of the air conditioning systems. The MATLAB computer simulation system [16][17][18] has become widespread for the study of temperature regimes.…”
