Improving the Atmosphere Turbulence Tolerance in Holographic Ghost Imaging System by Channel Coding

Abstract: Atmospheric turbulence (AT) severely cuts down the image resolutions of holographic ghost imaging (HGI) since orbital angular momentum (OAM) entangled states are associated with the spatial distribution of wave-functions. In this paper, we investigate the method to improve AT tolerance in HGI system. Since Reed-Solomon (RS) codes are important non-binary error correction codes which have strong correcting ability against noise, we use RS codes to develop a RS-coded HGI scheme. In order to verify the improvemen… Show more

“…For the transmission channel, the loss function can be expressed as η t = e −aZ , where a is the attenuation factor and Z is the transmission distance. Furthermore, AT would cause crosstalk between different OAM states [32,33], and the transmission probability η 0 , which illustrates the probability of the received photon with the same OAM state as the input, can be expressed by [34] η 0 = 1 π ˆ1 0 ρdρ ˆ2π 0 e −3.44…”

“…GI has many advantages, such as high sensitivity, super resolution, anti-scattering, etc. Therefore, it has been applied to quantum imaging [5] , remote sensing [6] , atmospheric turbulence [7] and other fields. In 2008, computational ghost imaging (CGI) [8] , which is similar to the single pixel imaging [9] was proposed, it simplifies the number of detectors needed in the experiment.…”
