In ovo injection of nano‐selenium spheres mitigates the hatchability, histopathology image and immune response of hatched chicks

Abstract: In ovo injection of nano‐selenium (Se) produced by lactic acid bacteria (LAB–nano‐Se) was investigated on the hatchability, immune responses and the histopathological alterations in hatched chicks. The eggs (18 day age) were injected with 0.5 ml of 0.9% NaCl (normal saline, NS), while the control group was kept without injection. In the third, fourth and fifth groups, the eggs were injected with 0.5 ml of NS and LAB–nano‐Se at 10, 20 and 30 μg/egg. The results revealed improved growth performance in groups inj… Show more

“…The inclusion of functional feed additives is known for the species-specific doses depending on the fish species, feeding duration, and rearing conditions [5]. The results also confirm the proposed hypothesis that the nano form of chitosan could be included in lower levels compared to organic and other forms [43]. Few studies in the literature explain the role of chitosan in improving the performances of aquatic animals.…”

“…The detection of the hematological and biochemical indices provides essential diagnostic tools about the health conditions of domestic animals fed varied feed additives (8,38). Chicken egg LZM is an interesting antibiotic peptide and growth enhancer with a remarkable bacteriolytic ability that can be used efficiently in rabbit feeding (16,37).…”

“…The continuous application of chemotherapies weakens the natural immunity of rabbits, and its prolonged usage induces accumulated amounts in animals' meat which can transfer to the human body and threatens the natural resistance against invaders (2,8). Especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, it becomes crucial to look for "alternative friendly additives" which can replace the routine usage of drugs, antibiotics, and vaccines in the field of rabbits' production (9).…”

“…Nanosilver has antibacterial and toxin binding effects and is being added to drinking water and food for chickens and pigs (El-Deep et al, 2020;Peters et al, 2016). Magnetic NPs are also found capable of removing of aflatoxin B1 and zearalenone from animal feed (Peters et al, 2016).…”

“…Furthermore, the use of nutrients in nanoscale is an approach to improve their bioavailability for health promotion in both humans and animals. It is shown in sheep that size reduction to the nano range can increase iron and selenium absorption (El-Deep et al, 2020). Metal oxide NPs can improve digestive enzyme activity, feed digestibility and growth of gut microbiota, and exhibit antibacterial and antifungal activity (Adegbeye et al, 2019).…”
