The Role of Catholic Mission in The Establisment of East Nusa Tenggara Scholar. Catholicism have long history in Indonesia especially in East Nusa Tenggara. Along with Portugal expansion, in 1562 three Dominican monks began their mission in Solor island, East Nusa Tenggara. Catholic awareness for education in East Nusa Tenggara appears when they start built first seminary in 1596. In the Dutch colonialism era, Catholic in East Nusa Tenggara could not freely move and expand their beliefs. The start of Ethische Politiek in Dutch East Indies at the end of 19th century make Catholic once again could work freely and have a major influence in education. In East Nusa Tenggara, previously controlled by Jesuit Order, the change to Societas Verbi Divini or SVD order marks the start of great development for Catholic influence in East Nusa Tenggara especially in education sector. This start with establishment of seminary in several area. After that, there are emergence of several intellectuals from East Nusa Tenggara. This research using literature review approach with history methods and seek how the establishment of seminary affect the rise of East Nusa Tenggara Intellectuals. Data obtained from several books, articles, and news. From this research, it is known that seminary have a central role in the rise of East Nusa Tenggara intellectuals especially after Indonesia independence. Although this role have been decreasing, but seminary still holds a substansial parts in East Nusa Tenggara and Indonesia intellectual worlds nowaday.
