In-service measurement of the OSNR in ROADM-based networks

Abstract: Optical networks using reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexers (ROADMs) present a challenge for optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) testing. Proposed is a new method for measuring the in-band OSNR based on a high resolution optical spectrum analyzer using a new optical polarization splitting method.
