In Situ Electrodeposition of Ultralow Pt into NiFe-Metal-Organic Framework/Nickel Foam Nanosheet Arrays as a Bifunctional Catalyst for Overall Water Splitting

Jiongting Yin,
Cheng Wang,
Jie Li
et al.

Abstract: Exploring highly effective bifunctional electrocatalysts with surface structural advantages and synergistic optimization effects among multimetals is greatly important for overall water splitting. Herein, we successfully synthesized Pt-loaded NiFe-metal-organic framework nanosheet arrays grown on nickel foam (Pt−NiFe-MOF/NF) via a facile hydrothermal-electrodeposition process. Benefiting from large exposed specific surface, optimal electrical conductivity and efficient metal-support interaction endow Pt−NiFe-M… Show more

“…The XPS spectrum of Ni 2p (Figure b) further demonstrated the different oxidation states of Ni. The distinctive peaks for Ni 2p 1/2 and Ni 2p 3/2 in Ir-MIL-88A@NiFe-LDHs are observed at 874.13 and 856.29 eV, respectively. , The peaks located at 862.31 and 881.44 eV are recognized as satellite peaks associated with Ni 2p. Notably, the Ni 2p 1/2 and Ni 2p 3/2 peaks in Ir-MIL-88A@NiFe-LDHs shifted toward higher binding energies by 0.12 and 0.17 eV, respectively, compared to the corresponding peaks in MIL-88A@NiFe-LDHs, suggesting a possible strong synergistic effect among Ni, Fe, and Ir.…”

“…17–19 It has already been established that MOFs and MOF-based materials show comparatively better performance than transition metal-based materials. 20 A series of MOF-based catalysts such as Ru–Co 9 S 8 , 21 Er-Ni-MOF, 22 Pt–NiFe-MOF, 23 Ru–Co 3 O 4 , 24 RhCoNi-MOF, 25 and so on have been demonstrated recently for water splitting.…”
