In-situ graphene oxide reduction via inkjet printing using natural reducing inks

Junaid Khan,
M Mariatti

Abstract: The development of eco-friendly alkali lignin-assisted water-based stable graphene oxide (GO) ink presents an innovative approach with the potential to revolutionize the manufacturing of printed and flexible electronics through scalable inkjet printing. However, GO lacks conductivity, necessitating an additional reduction step to restore its electrical properties. Traditional reduction methods using toxic agents or high temperatures are not suitable for large-scale manufacturing due to environmental hazards. I… Show more

“…Printed electronics and sensor technology have emerged as the most remarkable invention to manufacture flexible, thin, lightweight, and stretchable devices. Inkjet printing is superior to other printing methods in a number of ways, such as higher resolution, versatility, low materials cost, and facile preparation methods [1][2][3]. Conductive ink is the most essential component for inkjet printed electronics, and its composition significantly influences the quality of the printed devices and sensors [4,5].…”

“…Alkali lignin, a natural surfactant, has shown promise in enhancing the stability, wettability, and printability of graphene oxide (GO) ink for large-scale applications [1,3]. Despite this potential, there is a notable lack of research focusing on optimizing ink properties to facilitate the efficient manufacturing of printed electronics.…”
