“…[68] is ill-crystallized. In the case of LiFePO 4 , for instance, we have determined that the amorphization of the surface layer also favors the solid-solution process, the two-phase behavior being recovered by heat treatment at circa 650 °C, accompanied with the re-crystallization of the surface layer during the carbon coating [70][71][72].…”

“…Fortunately, iron combines easily with carbon, so that different sources of carbon can be used and have been tested [16,17]. Our experience is that lactose is a good precursor [18], although other choices are possible. The Figure 2 shows the resistivity curve of LiFePO 4 particles before and after carbon coating.…”

“…The strain at the interface between the two materials is accommodated by extended defects such as dislocations and grain boundaries; on the other hand, the LFP layer is well crystallized as evidenced by the lattice fringes in the HRTEM image (Figure 2c). This result suggests that LFP is deposited by some epitaxial effect on the well-crystallized surface of LMP, since the free surface of LFP at 600 °C is disordered [18]. The electrochemical features of the LMP-LFP (66:33) blend is illustrated in Figure 3, showing the charge-discharge profiles vs. specific capacity of the Li//blend coin cell for the first two cycles.…”
