“…Several techniques, particularly pack cementation [5][6][7][8], chemical vapor deposition [9], electrodeposition [10], and hot dip plating [11] have been used for the manufacture of silicide coatings on molybdenum and TZM alloy. All of the coatings obtained by these methods consist of MoSi 2 , Mo 5 Si 3 , and Mo 3 Si sub-layers [5,12].…”

“…[33][34][35] Compared with other methods, molten salt method has the advantages of simple process, low cost, excellent metallurgical bonding with substrate material, high efficiency and deposition rate. 36,37 Molten salt method takes halides, carbonates, and nitrates of alkali and alkaline earth metals as the reaction medium. The reactants and supporting salts are mixed according to a certain proportion and heated to a molten condition.…”

“…From the above analysis, it can be seen that there are few systematic studies on the silicide coating preparation in NaCl-KCl-NaF-K 2 SiF 6 molten salt system. In our previous work, we have explored the effect of current density on the electrodeposition of silicide coating on Mo in NaCl-KCl-NaF-K 2 SiF 6 molten salt system at 1073 K. 36 The results showed that cathode current density had a significant effect on the type and thickness of the coating. The influences of reaction temperature on the electrochemical reduction mechanism, microstructure, phase composition, and thickness of the silicide coating prepared by molten salt electrodeposition were further discussed in this study.…”
