Abstract: The first paper for 2012 discusses the risk factors for the introduction and establishment of bovine Johne's disease (BJD) in beef herds in south-eastern Australia. 1Results from a three-step survey of 109 beef herds in that were infected with BJD found that the majority of index cases were introduced animals and bulls were a particular risk.
