“…Then the absorbance of the supernatant was measured using ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometer at 357 nm and 287 nm for TC and LEV, respectively. [7][8][9][10] To facilitate description, the adsorbed samples would be represented by abbreviations. For example, IP-LEV is the IP sample aer LEV adsorption.…”

“…Another study of combined antimicrobial strategies showed that the main body of a laminar mesh of ePTFE with a coating of silver carbonate and chlorhexidine diacetate remained clean but thick fibrous encapsulation, seroma and purulent material were observed related to the mesh anchorage (see Figure 6) [221]. In the same research line, a mesoporous silica nanoplatform (MSN) composed of levofloxacin (Lev) and silver (Lev@MSN@Ag), and poly-L-lactide (PLLA) electrospun (Lev@MSN@Ag-PLLA) via blending electrospinning was proposed as an alternative antimicrobial option for hernia repair (see Figure 8) [256]. The combined action of these compounds allows high inhibition of resistant bacteria without the need for applying high doses of antibiotics, which can be toxic for the human body.…”
