Abstract: Purpose: Healthy cartilage homeostasis depends on an intact collagen scaffold and high aggrecan content. ADAMTS-5 (A Disintegrin And Metalloprotease with ThromboSpondin-motifs-5) is critically involved in arthritic diseases because of its direct role in cleaving aggrecan.
