“…Additionally, in a study of DEHP and DEHP replacements utilizing a murine cell line, DEHP was more cytotoxic that DINCH, but the decrease in cell viability was ≤50% for both compounds. Interestingly, mono-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (MEHP, a DEHP metabolite) and several DINCH and DEHTP metabolites presented more cytotoxic dose-response effects than their parent compounds at the same concentrations, with MEHP having the smallest effect of all metabolites [41]. “…Evaluation of the effect of DBP or DEHP on PP has been previously described in literature [7]. Nevertheless, unlike other polymers [10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17], there is, to our knowledge, no exhaustive study of the addition into PP of these safer plasticizers to simultaneously substitute the phthalate plasticizers and the PVC in this contact application with food or in that medical-clinical one.
