RESUMO:O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a atividade antifúngica de óleos essenciais e vegetais no controle in vitro de Colletotrichum gloeosporioides, agente causal da antracnose em pós-colheita de frutíferas. Treze óleos essenciais foram utilizados em concentrações de 0,00%, 0,40%, 0,80%, 1,70%, 3,20%, 6,25%, 12,50%, 25,00%, 50,00% e 100,00%, e uma linhagem padrão de Colletotrichum gloeosporioides. Foram avaliadas a concentração inibitória mínima e a concentração mínima fungicida a fim de caracterizar o potencial de cada um dos óleos essenciais avaliados. Verificou-se que os óleos utilizados apresentaram atividade fungicida em diferentes concentrações, as quais variaram de 0,80% (melaleuca), 3,20%, (eucalipto), 6,25% (limão, capim limão, cravo da índia, canela e nim), 12,5% (hortelã e citronela), 25% (copaíba), 50% (coco e gengibre) e 100% (manjericão). O óleo de nim apresentou maior redução da carga microbiana em função do tempo de exposição, sendo necessários 30 minutos para anulação da contagem microbiana. O efeito antifúngico dos óleos essenciais, para controle de Colletotrichum gloeosporioides, depende da planta e da concentração empregada.Palavras-chave: antracnose, frutíferas, antifúngicos, plantas medicinais.ABSTRACT: Essential and vegetal oils in the in vitro control of Colletotrichum gloeosporioides. This study aimed to evaluate the antifungal effect of essential and vegetal oils in the in vitro control of Colletotrichum gloeosporioides, a causal agent of anthracnose in fruit postharvest. Thirteen essential oils were used at concentrations of 0.00%, 0.40%, 0.80%, 1.70%, 3.20%, 6.25%, 12.50%, 25.00%, 50.00%, and 100.00%, and also a standard strain of Colletotrichum gloeosporioides, The minimum inhibitory concentration and minimum fungicidal concentration were assessed to characterize the potential of each of the essential oils tested. We found that used oils showed fungicidal activity at different concentrations, which varied in 0.80% (Melaleuca alternifólia), 3.20%, (Eucalyptus globulus), 6.25% (Citrus limonium, Cymbopogon citratus, Syzygium aromaticum, Cinnamomum zeylanicum, and Azadirachta indica), 12.5% (Mentha piperita and Cymbopogon winterianus), 25% (Copaifera langsdorfii), 50% (Cocos nucifera and Zingiber officinale), and 100% (Ocimum basilicum). The Azadirachta indica oil showed greater reduction of microbial load because of the exposure time, and took 30 minutes for annulment of microbial count. The antifungal effect of essential oils to control Colletotrichum gloeosporioides depends on the plant and quantity of concentration. Fungi are among the main agents of plant diseases, being responsible for major losses in agriculture. The control of these microorganisms carried out using chemical compounds and numerous cases of resistance have already been observed, which makes it necessary to search for alternative methods of management of these pathogens. Therefore, the aim of this study, to evaluate the antifungal potential in plants. Twenty-four (24) plant extracts were tested for their antifungal potential against five plant pathogenic fungi: Sclerotinia sclerotiorum (Ss), Stromatinia cepivora (Sc), Fusarium oxysporum (Fox), Colletotrichum gloesporioides (Cg) and Verticillium dahlia (Vd). For the evaluation of the fungicidal potential, plant extracts were prepared by liquefying the plants in distilled water. The extracts were incorporated into PDA (Potato-Dextrose-Agar) culture medium to a final concentration of 35% and autoclaved. Then, PDA discs colonized by the aforementioned fungi were added to the center of each plate with the respective treatments (plant extracts). When all control treatments (PDA medium without plant extract) had colonized the entire Petri dish, the diameters of the fungal colonies were measured to calculate the Mycelial Growth Inhibition Index (MGI). Tests showed that all these plant extracts have some antifungal activity, ranging from 0 to 100% inhibition. In general, extracts of basil, lavender, guaco, rue, toxic cassava and black plum were the ones that stood out, with MGIs above 50%. New studies are being conducted to evaluate the activity of plant extracts without autoclaving, inhibition of sclerotia formation, to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration, as well as other parts of plants like roots and seeds, mixtures of plant extracts and in vivo antagonism tests.

Background: The Cinnamomum impressinervium (CI) Meisn. Tree, which belongs to the Lauraceae family and is endemic to India, is also called Assameses or Tejiya. Numerous pharmacological properties of this plant, including anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties, have been demonstrated. Materials and method: This study examines the phytochemical profile of the leaf using qualitative and quantitative methods. Following the phytochemical analysis of the leaf, the antioxidant efficacy for scavenging free radicals (ABTS and DPPH) was measured. Using the agar well diffusion method, the antibacterial potential of the crude extract and its fractions (aqueous, methanolic, n-hexane, and chloroform) was investigated against six gram-negative, three gram-positive, and one fungal strain. Result and discussion: Antioxidant activities of various extracts viz: aqueous, hexane, chloroform, and ethanol were prepared and subjected to antioxidant and antimicrobial activities. Through qualitative analysis, several alkaloids, steroids, and flavones were identified. In the DPPH and ABTS assays, the aqueous extract had the most potent antioxidant activity, with IC50 values of 123.83±0.42 and 57.86±0.85 μg/mL, respectively. DNA nicking assay is a qualitative analysis that shows DNA protection from free radicals. All the extracts towards B. atropheous showed best inhibition activity but a maximum zone of inhibition was shown by aqueous extracts measuring 40 mm. Aqueous and methanolic extracts are completely inactive towards S. typhi. Conclusion: This study revealed the antioxidant and antimicrobial efficacy of various extracts of Cinnamomum impressinervium Meisn. Leaves In this paper, the antibacterial activity of leaf extracts from Cinnamomum impressinervium Meisn. were studied. The evaluated extracts showed varied levels of inhibitory zones against every tested bacterium.
