“…Tbe murine tumour cell lines used in this study were: MPC-11, a PCT of BALB/c derivation; C1.18, a PCTof C3H derivation; andP-815, a mast cell tumour of DBA/2 derivation (Burton e/a/., 1975(Burton e/a/., , 1978. Tumour target cells were labelled with ^'Cr by adding 5-10 ^Ci of Na^'Cr O4 (New England Nuclear, Boston, MA.)…”

“…At the end of that period the BALB/c anti-MPC-U effector cells were treated in the microtrays with a 1:4 dilution of anti-Thy-1.2 (AKR ami-CBA) serum and a 1:5 dilution of rabbit complement (C), or normal mouse serum (NMS) and C, prior to the ^'Cr release assay, according to a protocol described in detail elsewhere Burton and Plate, 1981). Since culture of BALB/c spleen cells alone leads to the generation of spontaneous killer cells (Burton et al, 1978), appropriate "unstimulated' controls were included in all experiments. Statistical analysis was performed using the appropriate parametric and non-parametric tests as indicated in the text.…”
