Abstract:The Ti6Al4V alloy is widely used in orthopedic implants due to its excellent mechanical properties and biocompatibility. However, traditional manufacturing techniques are unable to fabricate complex geometrical shapes with tailored properties. This leads to premature failure due to wear, corrosion, and poor osseointegration. Recent advancements in laser-based additive manufacturing, particularly in direct metal laser sintering (DMLS), offer new opportunities to produce Ti6Al4V implants with tailored microstruc… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
