Several of the school affairs, along with those in other areas, of minors are altered by the parents' work environment, limiting the possibilities of attention, especially in the case of schoolwork, normally carried out at home. This descriptive-inferential, transversal and quantitative research has the objective of identifying, from parental perception, the influence of the work situation on the follow-up of school tasks. There is a sample of 1,787 Spanish families with sons and daughters in early childhood, primary and secondary education who have participated by completing an ad hoc questionnaire from which descriptive and inferential data were extracted through the Kruskal-Wallis parameter and Cohen's d. The results indicate significant differences in the difficulty of schoolwork in both genders, father and mother, in favor of those who are full-time; the improvement of family relationships as a benefit, academic inability as an obstacle and an increase in positive effects after the pandemic stand out as aspects most identified by parents who are unemployed. Therefore, the need to reconvert labor policies not only in favor of economic activity but also of family life is evid.
