We revisit the recipe for hadron formation in the Lund string hadronization model. Given an incoming quark or quark-diquark pair, weights for hadron formation are updated to take hyperfine splitting effects arising from the mass difference between $$\mathrm {u,d}$$ u , d -type and $$\mathrm {s}$$ s -type quarks. We find that the procedure improves the description of hadron yields in $$\mathrm {e}^+\mathrm {e}^-$$ e + e - collisions and the $$\phi $$ ϕ cross section in neutral current DIS. We also show results for proton collisions, and discuss the future use of this study in the context of small system collectivity.

Evolution equations for extended dihadron fragmentation functions

We consider dihadron fragmentation functions, describing the fragmentation of a parton in two unpolarized hadrons, and in particular extended dihadron fragmentation functions, explicitly dependent on the invariant mass, $M_h$, of the hadron pair. We first rederive the known results on $M_h$-integrated functions using Jet Calculus techniques, and then we present the evolution equations for extended dihadron fragmentation functions. Our results are relevant for the analysis of experimental measurements of two-particle-inclusive processes at different energies.Comment: 9 pages, 1 figure in eps format; RevTeX4 styl
