This research aims to evaluate farmers’ attitudes to the pricing of natural resources, mainly water and soil resources, in GAP-Şanlıurfa-Turkey. It will also define farmers’ willingness to accept pricing for the sustainability of resources and explore the potential factors that contribute to such willingness. The data comes from a sample of 1105 farmers in Şanlıurfa who were chosen by a simple random sampling method and participants were interviewed face to face by questionnaires. The logistic regression is used for analysis. The results indicate that 40% of the farmers have a positive attitude to the pricing of resources for protection and sustainability. The most affecting factors are the location of the farmers, the number of agricultural manpower at the household, land amount, ownership status, income derived from agriculture, and livestock. The average willingness-to-pay amount was calculated in USD as $48.8/ha. Where public finance is insufficient to meet the demands, the willingness-to-pay amount may be used in co-investments. In this way, both the financing problem can be overcome and the ownership rate of the users can be increased. Therefore, the results could be helpful for decision- and policy-makers to develop strategies for the sustainability of resources for GAP-Turkey and areas with similar socioeconomic characteristics.

In a national ballot in 2009, Swiss citizens surprisingly approved an amendment to the Swiss constitution to ban the further construction of minarets. The ballot outcome manifested reservations and anti-immigrant attitudes in regions of Switzerland which had previously been hidden. We exploit this fact as a natural experiment to identify the causal effect of negative attitudes towards immigrants on foreigners' location choices and thus indirectly on their utility. Based on a regression discontinuity design with unknown discontinuity points and administrative data on the population of foreigners, we find that the probability of their moving to a municipality which unexpectedly expressed stronger reservations decreases initially by about 40 percent. The effect is accompanied by a drop of housing prices in these municipalities and levels off over a period of about 5 months. Moreover, foreigners in high-skill occupations react relatively more strongly highlighting a tension when countries try to attract well-educated professionals from abroad.

Эмпирической базой для анализа являлись результаты исследования жителей г. Екатеринбурга в возрасте 15 лет и старше. Проведен сравнительный анализ четырех типологических групп горожан с различными установками относительно мигрантов из Центральной Азии («непримиримые», «действенные благожелатели», «противоречивые» и «равнодушные»). Результаты получены с использованием кластерного анализа. В качестве классификационных признаков выступили 12 переменных, являющихся прямыми индикаторами отношения к мигрантам. Особенности каждой типологической группы описаны с использованием индикаторов, которые отражают отношение к миграции как социальному процессу. Измерялись и диспозиции относительно мигрантов в их индивидуальном проявлении, включая приемлемость брачных отношений и личной дружбы с мигрантами. Выявлены два кластера, наиболее различающиеся по всему комплексу показателей. Основу различий между данными группами составляют ценностные особенности, которые косвенно проявляются в наличии или отсутствии неприязни к некоторым этносам.Авторы приходят к выводу о существовании специфических причин формирования отношения к мигрантам в разных кластерах. Результаты опроса показали, что в центре формирования положительного или отрицательного отношения к приезжим в конкретном кластере может стоять широкое разнообразие социальных контактов с мигрантами, концентрация внимания на собственной этнической принадлежности, осознание угрозы реализации личных экономических интересов, этническая индифферентность.
