Since the invention of the light bulb, many technologies have been improved or invented with the aim of producing electric light. Currently, seeking sustainability, new light sources have been developed within a balance that takes into account energy costs, useful life, sustainability and cost-benefit. Therefore, LED lamps (Light Emitting Diode) have been dominating the market due to their efficient cost-benefit ratio. In this context, this article aims to analyze the current market situation and show the return time for replacing LED lamps in a residence in the rural area of the city of Campo Grande MS, since the rural area is still the place where incandescent lamps can be installed. The results obtained, as expected, showed an excellent cost-benefit ratio for the replacement, which concludes the feasibility of this. Finally, a study based on a literature review of the work shows that in addition to having an economically viable return, such lamps are beneficial to the environment, as they can be almost completely recycled.
