Increased VLDL in nephrotic patients results from a decreased catabolism while increased LDL results from increased synthesis

Abstract: Increased very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) in nephrotic patients results from a decreased catabolism while increased low density lipoprotein (LDL) results from increased synthesis. Hyperlipidemia is a hallmark of nephrotic syndrome that has been associated with increased risk for ischemic heart disease as well as a loss of renal function in these patients.
