Increasing the energy efficiency of an enterprise by point compensating of power quality distortions

Abstract: The cost of any product includes the cost of electrical energy in its production. Enterprises use various methods to reduce the cost of electric energy. One of the most common methods is to reduce the loss of active power in the distribution network of an enterprise. This is achieved by compensating for distortions in the power quality of electrical energy using compensating devices. The method presented in the article offers point compensation of distortions in the power quality indicators of electric energy.… Show more

“…For instance, frequency converters and rectifiers cause production with high energy efficiency. This could be due to the new structure of the rectifier [4], new electromechanical transmission [5], new harmonic compensating device, or a method to implement it that allows a reduction of active power losses in the distribution network [6,7]. Additionally, semiconductor devices can become a basis for some low-power supply systems [8].…”

“…There are known cases of stoppages in technological lines at food industry enterprises resulting from exceeding the voltage distortion levels due to outside, nonlinear consumers being connected to the point of common coupling [9]. So, it is necessary to provide power quality indices control [10,11] in order to both identify power distortion sources [12] and compensate for the resulting harmonics [13].…”

“…It should be noted that the loss or technological consumption of electrical energy during its transmission is the most important indicator of the efficiency of electrical network, and a clear indicator of the state of electricity metering systems [7,8]. At the same time, electricity is the only type of product transmitting of which doesn't require other resources, but a part of the transmitted energy itself is consumed [9].…”
