Independent prognostic genes and mechanism investigation for colon cancer

Abstract: ProposeWe aimed to explore the potential molecular mechanism and independent prognostic genes for colon cancer (CC).MethodsMicroarray datasets GSE17536 and GSE39582 were downloaded from Gene Expression Omnibus. Meanwhile, the whole CC-related dataset were downloaded from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database. Differentially expressed mRNA (DEMs) were identified between cancer tissue samples and para-carcinoma tissue samples in TCGA dataset, followed by the KEGG pathway and GO function analyses. Furthermore, … Show more

“…However, even with this issue is worthy to study differences in NT and tumours samples. Recent works that used TCGA and GEO publicly available datasets also found relevant results despite the difference in sample sizes [2628]. Taking together, these results indicate a possible role of TULP3 in the diagnosis of CRC, however, additional studies are needed to confirm these preliminary findings.…”

“…WBSCR28 had not been well studied in human tumor, but it was repressed by androgen receptor in prostate cancer [69]. SFTA2 was identified as a potential disease-free survival prognostic gene in colon cancer and one of the potential biomarkers for distinguishing between lung adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma [70,71]. MYH2 was confirmed significantly changed in hepatocellular carcinoma and highly expressed in the origin of squamous cell carcinoma in the lungs of patients with previous head and neck malignancies [72,73].…”

“…The current treatments for CC include surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and targeted therapy (Li, Shen, Zhou, & Yu, 2018). People with early-stage CC may be cured via surgery, whereas CC patients at the advanced stages treated with the combined chemotherapy are usually not curable due to drug resistance (Ma et al, 2012;Yu et al, 2017).…”
