Index‐based renewable energy insurance for Taiwan Solar Photovoltaic Power Plants

Abstract: Solar energy is one of the fastest‐growing renewable energy resources globally, with solar photovoltaic (PV) technology being a promising application designed to add usable solar power to the national energy mix of several countries. The Taiwan government announced that the targeted amount of electricity generated from renewable sources shall increase to 20% of its total energy supply by 2025, in which 20 GW capacity is expected to be achieved by solar PV power. This study aims to design index‐based insurance … Show more

“…ARIMA model (Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average Model), was proposed by Box and Jenkins in the early 1970s, which is a famous time series forecasting method. ARIMA(p,d,q) is the differential autoregressive moving average model [2]. ARIMA(p,d,q) is an autoregressive moving average model; AR is autoregressive, p is autoregressive term; MA is moving average, q is the number of moving average terms, and d is the number of difference terms made when the time series is stationary.…”

“…Figure13a,b shows the history of Taiwan's electricity generation and installed capacity of solar PV, respectively[24]. Solar PV capacity has grown rapidly in the last decade[35][36][37][38][39][40]. In 2020, solar PV generated 6095 GWh of electricity, which was 2.2% of total electricity and 33% of renewable electricity.…”
