Index of refraction of magnesium oxide

Abstract: Th e index of refraction of magnesium ox ide crystal has been m eas ured for \\'avrle ll gths from 0.36 to 5.35 microns. In the visible reg ion , measuremen ts were m ad e at t hree temperatures, close to 20°, 30°, and 40° C. Therma l coe ffi cients were computed fo r this range of temperat ures for n ine wavelengths.

“…Its refractive index was modeled using a Sellmeier relation according to the work of Dodge [15] and Stephens and Malitson [16]. Our conclusion is that possible corrections due to temperature change in the substrate are well within our measurement uncertainties.…”

“…Ce spectre resulte de plusieurs series d'exp6riences. I peut tre complete d'une part par les valeurs calcul6es a partir de l'indice de rfraction aux hautes frequences [6], que nous avons reported sur la figure 2; d'autre part la valeur limite basse frequence est:…”

“…In our fitting, the refractive index of the substrate was obtained from MgO single crystal. 6 Our initial analysis was based on a single-layer Lorentz model. Poor agreement, however, was obtained with the experimental data.…”

“…4,5 The refractive index of 0.7PMN-0.3PT ceramics is 2.598 at 633 nm, 2 and this value is much larger than that of MgO single crystal (1.734) at 650 nm. 6 A larger refractive index difference between the film and substrate increases the amplitude of oscillations of ellipsometric spectra, and thus enhances the accuracy of ellipsometric measurements. After obtaining the extinction coefficients of PMN-PT films, the absorption coefficients, and hence the band gap energies of these films were estimated.…”
