Indirect fuzzy contour tracking for XY PMSM actuated motion system applications

Abstract: In this study, the authors present a control method for the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) driven X-Y motion system for application in industrial and manufacturing apparatus. Backlash and friction effects in ball-screw actuated systems are common obstacles to achieve high-accuracy control. The authors investigate the indirect fuzzy controller to demonstrate the feasibility of reference trajectory tracking and derive an adaptive law in the error state space to deal with parameter uncertainties and ex… Show more

“…However, the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) has been gaining attention for its high performance in terms of efficiency, controllability and torque density even though it is relatively costly [5,6]. With the definite advantages, PMSM has become a prospect in many emerging performance critical applications such as electrified transportation and military [7,8]. The basic PMSM is evolved in different directions to facilitate different objectives.…”

“…A sliding‐mode control method is used to control the DC‐link voltage in PMSM fed by Z‐source inverter [17]. In addition, the intelligent control methods [18], like neural control [19] are applied in this field. However, these control strategies are complicated and difficult to implement.…”
