Perbedaan agama dan keyakinan dapat memunculkan berbagai kasus konflik di Indonesia. Hal itu ditambah dengan perbedaan budaya dan tradisi masyarakat yang menimbulkan kerugian jiwa dan materi, akibat adanya konflik yang meletus. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat dan membuktikan sebuah tradisi dan budaya yang tidak hanya berpotensi menimbulkan konflik, tetapi juga menimbulkan nilai perdamaian dan kerukunan. Penelitian ini mengkaji fenomena tradisi sedekah bumi yang berdampak terhadap terciptanya kerukunan umat beragama pada masyarakat plural. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif melalui metode studi kasus. Studi kasus dalam penelitian ini adalah tradisi sedekah bumi di Desa Balerejo, Kecamatan Panggungrejo, Kabupaten Blitar, Jawa Timur. Proses pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tiga teknik: observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian ini mencakup empat hal: pertama, kondisi sosial keagamaan masyarakat Desa Balerejo penuh dengan dinamika yang berorientasi pada perkembangan masyarakat perdesaan yang mandiri. Kedua, pelaksanaan sedekah bumi di Desa Balerejo dilaksanakan dengan prinsip gotong royong dan toleransi. Ketiga, nilai-nilai kerukunan umat beragama pada tradisi sedekah bumi di Desa Balerejo terdiri dari nilai gotong royong, toleransi, dan persatuan. Keempat, tanggapan masyarakat terhadap tradisi sedekah bumi di Desa Balerejo dikelompokkan ke dalam berbagai tanggapan sesuai dengan penganut agama di Balerejo, yakni tanggapan dari umat Islam, Hindu, Katolik, dan Protestan.

This study aims at the formulation of a regeneration model for traditional artisans in Indonesia. The model is expected to be a solution for the degeneration problem, the declining interest of the younger generation to learn and to continue tradition art business, mainly batik. The research was conducted specifically on the community of batik artisans in Girilayu, Karanganyar Regency, Central Java, Indonesia. This study is a qualitative one using ethnographic approach method to collect the data. Focus Group Discussion (FGD) was used to design and to formulate the alternatives and to determine the right model. Furthermore, the formulation of the model was implemented and analyzed for the effectiveness as well as the impact that may occur. This study formulates a model for the regeneration of batik artisans in Indonesia. This study found some regeneration gaps in the form of inconsistency in sustainable activities of batik artisans’ generation which has caused the degeneration.

Batik Lasem has been an icon of Indonesia which expresses the life & culture of the Lasem society.
