This paper introduces an environmental data collection application that takes a comprehensive approach, including both hardware and software components. The software application is built on the platform BIOComProP_ECU (Basic Input Output Communication Protocol Platform for Electronic Control Units), which is a fast prototyping platform designed for electronic control units. The study presents a novel approach to developing a cost-efficient Internet of Things (IoT) system. This system takes advantage of the ESP32 microcontroller, which is equipped with WiFi capabilities, as its primary feature. The system collects indoor environmental data, such as air quality, temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure, through dedicated sensors. This data is then stored in cloud storage for future analysis. The final section of the paper examines all of the results of the measurements collected over a one-year period and presents the resulting conclusions derived from this particular case study.
