Based on a multi-physic model of an asynchronous electrical machine with a strong electro-magnetomechanical interaction, the Unbalanced Magnetic Pull (UMP) generated from the uneven air-gap due to the rotor eccentricity is calculated and discussed. The proposed model includes strong couplings between mechanical, magnetical and electrical behaviors, particularly the relationship between angle sampling and time sampling about the rotor position which introduces the Instantaneous Angular Speed.Simulations with different input static eccentricity values are investigated in rated operation and the effects of UMP on the dynamic behavior of the whole system are analysed. Vibration analysis is performed at the supports to extract information in vibration signals for eccentricity monitoring.

This study presents the modelling and simulation of a squirrel cage induction motor using a modified winding function‐based method. The aim of the model is to compute the motor's performance parameters, which are similar to the results obtained using the finite element method (FEM) with a considerably reduced simulation time. This fact can make this model good for iterations based optimisation and fault diagnostic algorithms. For this purpose, the actual stator and rotor winding functions and the air gap, with the inclusion of rotor and stator slots, are defined as conditional expressions. The resistances and various inductances are calculated with stepping rotor, saved in lookup tables and are used to calculate speed, torque, and currents of the motor. For the validation of the model, the frequency spectrum of stator current is compared with the one calculated using FEM and measurements taken in the laboratory setup under healthy and broken rotor bar conditions.

In this paper, a hybrid model in Cartesian coordinates combining a two-dimensional (2-D) generic magnetic equivalent circuit (MEC) with a 2-D analytical model based on the Maxwell-Fourier method (i.e., the formal resolution of Maxwell's equations by using the separation of variables method and the Fourier's series) is developed. This model coupling has been applied to a U-cored static electromagnetic device. The main objective is to compute the magnetic field behavior in massive conductive parts (e.g., aluminum, magnets, copper, iron) considering the skin effect (i.e., with the eddy-current reaction field) and to predict the eddy-current losses. The magnetic field distribution for various models is validated with 2-D and three-dimensional (3-D) finite-element analysis (FEA). The study is also focused on the discretization influence of 2-D generic MEC on the eddy-current loss calculation in conductive regions. Experimental tests and 3-D FEA have been compared with the proposed approach on massive conductive parts in aluminum. For an operating point, the computation time is divided by~4.6 with respect to 3-D FEA.
