Software testing is the method of executing the program with the intension of finding the errors. This process is very complex and time intensive and costly. Automation of software testing process has turn out to be very workable solution in software engineering. For this purpose, machine learning algorithm is being used. We chose 48 primary research studies, tried to explain each machine learning-based approach in software testing. It gives an overview of how the input that is available data given to the model for learning and then how it is helping in giving predictions. We discovered that machine learning methods were mostly employed for test case development, refining, and evaluation. Machine learning has also been used to evaluate the production of test oracles and predict the cost of testing procedures.

SUMMARYParallel programs present some features such as concurrency, communication and synchronization that make the test a challenging activity. Because of these characteristics, the direct application of traditional testing is not always possible and adequate testing criteria and tools are necessary. In this paper we investigate the challenges of validating message-passing parallel programs and present a set of specific testing criteria. We introduce a family of structural testing criteria based on a test model. The model captures control and data flow of the message-passing programs, by considering their sequential and parallel aspects. The criteria provide a coverage measure that can be used for evaluating the progress of the testing activity and also provide guidelines for the generation of test data. We also describe a tool, called ValiPar, which supports the application of the proposed testing criteria. Currently, ValiPar is configured for parallel virtual machine (PVM) and message-passing interface (MPI). Results of the application of the proposed criteria to MPI programs are also presented and analyzed.

Data are used in several software applications involving critical operations. In such applications to ensure the quality of the manipulated data is fundamental. Data schemas define the logical structure and the relationships among data. Testing schemas by means of specific testing approaches, criteria and tools has not been explored adequately as a way to ensure the quality of data defined by schemas. This work proposes a testing approach based on fault classes usually identified in data schemas. A data metamodel is defined to specify the schemas that can be tested and the constraints to the data in schemas. This testing approach provides means for revealing faults related to incorrect or absent definition of constraints for the data in the schema. The approach includes the automatic generation of a test set which contains data instances and queries to these instances; the data instances and queries are generated according to patterns defined in each fault class. Experiments in the contexts of Web and database applications were carried out to illustrate the testing approach application.
