Infections caused by multi-drug resistant organisms are not associated with overall, all-cause mortality in the surgical intensive care unit: A 20,000 foot view

Abstract: Background-Resistant pathogens are increasingly common in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), with controversy regarding their relationship to outcomes. We hypothesized that an increasing number of infections with resistant pathogens in our surgical ICU would not be associated with increased overall mortality.
