Inflammatory Pseudotumor Suspected of Port Site Recurrence after Laparoscopic Colectomy—A Case Report—

Abstract

An89-year-oldwomanwasadmittedtoourhospitalwithacomplaintofleftlowerabdominalpain. Abdominalcomputedtomographyrevealedaheterogeneousenhancedtumormeasuring50×40mmin diameterintheabdominalwalloftheleftlowerquadrant.Thepatienthadapasthistoryoflaparoscopic rightcolectomyforascendingcoloncancer(StageI),whichwasperformed6yearsago.Aportsiterecurrenceofrectalcanceraftersurgerywassuspectedduetoahistoryofcancerandthusthetumorwas resected. Histologically, the tumor comprised spindle cells with high inflammatory cell infiltration. The tumorcellswereimmunohistochemicallynegativeforcytokeratin,c-kit,S-100,andALK.Thetumorwas finallydiagnosedasinflammatorypseudotumor.Thepatienthasexperiencednorecurrenceoneyearaftersurgery.
