Inflation and deflation of self-adaptive applications

Abstract: Autonomic multicore systems dynamically adapt themselves in response to run-time conditions and information for a variety of purposes, such as fault tolerance, power conservation, and performance balancing. Multiple application processes must coordinate their efforts and share resources to achieve system goals. In this paper, we present our inflate/deflate programming model for building autonomic processes and systems. The inflate/deflate programming model provides application-specific knowledge and reactions … Show more

“…The IoT domain shares a high overlap with the networking domain as IoT solutions are essentially localized networks. The trends of the IoT research in this phase is consistent with the themes of generic frameworks [1], [160], [172], [180], [297] and validation [129], [130].…”

“…Note that, in this paper, we only focus on the prediction of the optimal core allocations. The run-time adaptation to the optimal core allocations has been addressed by previous work, and is beyond the scope of this paper [7,9,22,23].…”

“…But there has been little work done on the hardware component designs which consumes far less energy. The Moore's law has ceased to exist recently which said that the amount of transistors will double every two years [14] [16]. But the increase in transistor density hasn't been proportional to computational improvements.…”
