Inflation in spherically symmetric inhomogeneous models

Abstract: Exact analytical solutions of Einstein's equations are found for a spherically symmetric inhomogeneous metric in the presence of a massless scalar field with a flat potential. The process of isotropization and homogenization is studied in detail. It is found that the time dependence of the metric becomes de Sitter for large times. Two cases are studied. The first deals with a homogeneous scalar field, while the second with a spherically symmetric inhomogeneous scalar field. In the former case the metric is of … Show more

“…Many authors [6][7][8][9][10] studied several aspects of scalar field in the evolution of the universe and FRW models. Using the concept of Higgs field with potential V (φ) has a flat region and the field evolves slowly but the universe expands in an exponential way due to vacuum field energy [11]. It is assumed that the scalar field will take sufficient time cross the flat region so that the universe expands sufficiently to become homogeneous and isotropic on the scale of the order of the horizon size.…”

“…Guth [6], Linde [7] and La and Steinhardt [8] are some of the authors who have investigated several aspects of the inflationary universes in general relativity. Using the concept of Higgs field φ with potential V (φ) has a flat region and the φ field evolves slowly but the universe expands in an exponential way due to vacuum field energy [9]. It is assumed that the scalar field will take sufficient time to cross the flat region so that the universe expands sufficiently to become homogeneous and isotropic on the scale of the order of the horizon size.…”
